Poetry is a wonderful medium to frame experiences, thoughts, emotions, ideas, dreams, and utter flights of fancy.  In rhyme or free form verse, it allows creativity a format where words find new strength, and pauses can be expressions in themselves.  A poem can also inspire other arts, as in this window exhibit where a poem and a series of watercolors blend to make a richer expression.

Fly away pretty, Free to fly, To dance in the sky, To shine in the light, Fly away dreams, Fly away day, Fly away night.

Sea Cliffs

The sea waves hello with hollow thumping glides    Splashing welcome, tempting beauty of sparkling pale blue White foam slides across the sand                                      Playfully teasing he sandpipers’ toes                                    Dogs race their leashes across the beach                         Stopping to rate the scent of aging kelp and vacant clams Warming sun kisses the skin                                                  And reddens those that love too long                                       Or succumb to lazy sleep                                                   Mobiles move into a piece of heaven                                      To live in blissful efficiency                                                         To rest and find the peace of harmony                                  That will build the joyful noises of life                                      And run the races to win a heart’s desire                                Priceless fortunes of unknown worth
