Elizabeth tells stories, pens SF, plays, & poetry, creates original Ragtag Flags, whimsically sculpts, and wields paintbrushes

Art starts in the heart and goes out to the universe - it doesn’t matter what medium you work in.

Taking this simple mantra to heart, Elizabeth has embrace the Arts (with a capital A for all arts) and stretched her creative world to include performing, literary, visual, and fabric arts. This has made her an Artist with a flair for creative problem solving and well-organized, professional solutions. (The M.B.A. is helpful, too.)

Fiction, fables, urban legends, gospel stories, SF, fantasy, and history “you never heard in school” filled the repertoire of this storyteller and author. Storytelling always came naturally to her - her sisters claim she started telling at age four. After 20 years in the business world, she began her professional storytelling career in 1990, sharing the intimate art of storytelling and charming children, teens, and adults with her tales. Her creative writing has expanded over the years to include short stories, poetry, and a science fiction novel.

Elizabeth has been honored for her storytelling recordings.  Her children’s tape Unusual Aesop’s Fables was named to Booklist Editor’s Choice in 1997. Unusual Christmas Tidings, a CD for mature youth and adults, won 2002-3 Pegasus Award with Distiction.

Elizabeth has been teaching storytelling to youth and adults since 1996. She was awarded Artist in Residence grants from the California Arts Council and Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission in 1996-99. She was awarded a Storytelling in Community grant from the National Storytelling Network in 2006-7. She has been a part of the Docent Training program at the California Auto Museum for over a decade.

Elizabeth’s love for the visual arts began in childhood, was anchored by an exceptional high school art teacher, James Smith, and became the secret passion of her adulthood. She experimented in many mediums, pencils, pen & ink, chalk, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, clay, papier mache, fabric arts, puppetry, and needlework. Her creations vary in size from 4x6 inch cards to theater sets and 3-D exhibit displays. Her craftsmanship continues to develop as she learns,  grows, and shares the Arts with the world.
